Critical Reflection and Recommendations
This course has given me the opportunity to grow as a family practitioner. I now have a greater understanding of domestic violence and abuse in the community. My role as a family practitioner demands many things of me including; being a resourceful support person, remain impartial, be confidential and the ability to refer on when the client needs more specialised help.
The key to change lies in the hands of our children. Prevention via teaching our children that violence is inappropriate. If the Government is committed to change I believe that High School curriculum would include a unit in years eight and twelve the contained relevant and age appropriate content regarding all aspects of domestic violence and abuse.
